THE CHALLENGE
The 2020 University of Texas + Adobe Creative Jam challenge focused on smart-city solutions, urging us to enhance infrastructure, mobility, public services, utilities, communication, public health, and resource distribution, all while positively impacting the community and promoting equity.

THE CONCEPT
In the course of our team's collaborative session, the initial concepts generated left us with uncertainty to proceed. After engaging with a community member on their grievances concerning payments for essential public services, we were propelled to expand upon an existing feature within our city's website, which enables residents to settle their water bills online. Our aspiration was to create a unique, engaging experience that would resonate on a local level with a potential for expansion.

THE PROBLEM
Health and Safety Concerns: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for contactless transactions and easy remote access to services.
Physical Payments: Many individuals are burdened by the need to visit physical locations to make payments for services such as utilities.
Utility Payment Gaps: The lack of mobile app options for utility payments poses an inconvenience to residents.
Fragmented Services: Navigating multiple apps and websites to manage utility accounts, billing information, and payment options is cumbersome.
Redundant Data Entry: Entering the same information repeatedly across various platforms wastes time and effort.
QUESTION
How can we ensure seamless integration with existing urban infrastructure and encourage widespread adoption among a diverse user base?

THE SOLUTION
Safety and Ease: Addressing health concerns, CityMobile promotes contactless payments and ensures easy access to essential services.
Unified Services: By combining public services and utility payments in a single app, CityMobile simplifies residents' access to crucial services.
Integrated Functions: The app merges diverse functions like utility payments, parking and citations, and bike sharing, offering a holistic urban management solution.

VISUAL LANGUAGE
In the context of CityMobile's UI/UX design, our objective was to offer users a sense of relief and confidence in addressing their urban requirements, no matter where they are. To achieve this, we utilized a gentle teal color palette, creating a serene and soothing ambiance, particularly apt during the prevailing COVID-19 situation. Drawing inspiration from CashApp's minimalist design, our user interface reflects simplicity and clarity. Given our time constraints, we seamlessly integrated unDraw's open-source illustrations, enhancing the project's overall design with visually appealing elements.


REFLECTION
By combining utility payments, parking management, and bike sharing within a single app, CityMobile offers users a streamlined and convenient experience. The project's potential was underscored by its recognition as a top 10 finalist in the competitive University of Texas + Adobe Creative Jam and its various awards in the American Advertising Awards Competition. The app's implementation fosters a user-friendly interface with the prospect to optimize various aspects of city life while improving community equity and accessibility.
Creating CityMobile provided me with an introduction to the Adobe XD design tool, marking my first encounter with this platform. This experience ignited my curiosity about delving into the realm of UI/UX design and motivated me to commit to generating impactful solutions. As I look ahead, I'm enthusiastic about investigating ways to further enhance the app's navigation and, more importantly, integrating user feedback to refine its intuitive interface. With a strong desire to cultivate heightened user convenience and satisfaction, I aim to refine CityMobile's navigation, ensuring that its functionality aligns seamlessly with its user-centric design approach.
